surf sup

surf sup is a surf and paddle board café designed to bring a vibrant urban vibe to the local surf culture. The café serves as a gathering space for surfers and paddle boarders, blending their love for the waves. To capture this unique spirit, I developed a visual identity that merges bold, playful typography with an urban edge.

The Creative Wave

The surf sup logo was born from the essence of surfing itself. My goal was to create a design that captured the vibrancy of surf culture while resonating with an urban, streetwise edge.

Drawing inspiration from the organic forms of waves and graffiti, I created a bold logo that feels dynamic and playful. The color palette was carefully chosen to bridge the connection between the ocean and the cafe, the home turf of the surf community.

It’s a visual celebration of the community’s passion for surf, coffee, and connection, encapsulating the brand’s ethos in a way that feels authentic and unmistakably cool.

The use of black-and-white photography and scanner photo effects in the Surf Sup branding was a deliberate choice to connect the brand to the timeless spirit of surf culture. These visual elements draw on the nostalgia of vintage surf magazines and film photography, celebrating the heritage of surfing while giving it a fresh, urban edge.

The scanner photo effects, including textured overlays and imperfect edges, mimic the aesthetic of DIY surf zines. These techniques were inspired by the hand-crafted, grassroots culture of surfing, where individuality and creativity thrive.

The surf sup menu was designed to immerse yourself in the brand’s relaxed, surf-inspired aesthetic. I wanted to create a menu that felt dynamic and exciting while still being clean, easy to read, and functional for a cafe environment.

To ensure the menu was user-friendly, I structured the layout to make navigation effortless. Clear sections for "Main Brews," "Teas," "Snacks," and "Board Rentals" provide an easy flow.
